AI Workshop FAQ

What is a leadership AI workshop?

Quick answer

A leadership AI workshop is designed specifically for senior leaders — CEOs, managing directors, C-suite, and partners — who need to make AI decisions rather than just use AI tools. The focus is on: where AI creates strategic value, how to evaluate AI investment proposals, what governance obligations the leader holds, and how to lead an AI-literate organisation. Leadership AI workshops address the decision-maker’s perspective — not the user’s perspective.

What leadership AI workshops should cover

A leadership AI workshop should cover four areas that are specific to the decision-maker’s role. First, strategic value assessment: how does the leader evaluate AI’s potential contribution to the organisation’s strategic objectives, and how do they distinguish genuine AI opportunity from hype? Second, investment evaluation: when a team member or vendor proposes an AI investment, what questions should the leader ask, what governance requirements should they verify, and what does good look like? Third, governance obligations: what is the leader personally responsible for in relation to AI governance — risk appetite, policy approval, board reporting, EU AI Act compliance? Fourth, organisational leadership: how does the leader build an AI-literate organisation, manage the cultural change that AI requires, and ensure that AI investment produces business value rather than technology complexity?

The governance decision questions every leader needs to be able to answer

There are five governance decision questions that every senior leader should be able to answer without hesitation. What is our organisation’s AI risk appetite — what level of AI risk are we prepared to accept in pursuit of AI opportunity? Do we have an AI use policy, and is it current? Who is accountable for AI governance in our organisation? Have we assessed our EU AI Act obligations, and are we on track to meet the August 2026 enforcement deadline? If an AI system we are using were to fail publicly — producing harmful outputs, exposing client data, making biased decisions — what is our response plan? Leaders who cannot answer these questions are not in a position to govern AI effectively. A leadership AI workshop should, at minimum, enable every participant to answer all five.
